Time commitment: Full-time
The position
Responsible for supporting individual students with successful integration into a general education environment. The PLA should be an experienced educator familiar with working collaboratively in a classroom to support the behavioral, academic and safety needs of individual students.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Occupational Therapy or a related field
Training and experience working with students with both behavioral and learning needs
Ability to work collaboratively in a group setting, coordinating with the classroom teacher and others such as the school counselor
Ability to communicate clearly with external providers such as Speech/Language Therapists or Occupational Therapists.
Proficient in Written and Spoken English and Spanish
Interest in working with students who may have physical, emotional, behavioral and/or safety concerns
Skills, Attitudes, and Dispositions
Ability to connect with young children, communicating clearly and kindly with them
Excellent human relations skills in order to communicate effectively with both host country and international parents
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide written feedback to parents on identified goals.
Maintain confidentiality
Maintain continuity in the provision of services for students who require 1:1 support
Participate in case management meetings
Help students with social skill building—such as making eye contact, appropriate responses to the conversation, acknowledging others, etc
Assist student with self-regulation
Facilitate student interaction with other students during assigned group work
Assist student in accessing classroom curriculum, activities and assignments, including frontloading behavioral expectations
Accompany the student during breaks and other social settings to reinforce appropriate interactions with other students
Work Environment
Physical demands may include supervising breaks, supporting students in multiple classroom and school activities (Homeroom, PE, Library/Media Center) and other environments as needed.
