Duties & Responsibilities
The primary goal of maintenance is to avoid or mitigate the consequences of failure of fleet operations through Planned Maintenance and Condition Based Maintenance.
Develop scheduled maintenance or preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance or casualty maintenance systems and procedures for the mechanical company fleet.
Manage all technical and corresponding administrative, supervision actions of the Maintenance and Services Unit.
Optimize the use of available personnel, facilities, and equipment through effective maintenance management methods.
Provide accurate data for maintenance program decision making.
Systematically identify maintenance needs and address deficiencies improvement needs
Desired Experience & Qualification
Have passed Grade 12 / Matric Certificate and / or Diploma or equivalent in Diesel Mechanic;
Need an Artisan who passed a Trade Test on heavy duty diesel mechanic
vehicles;
Proven 10 years’ work experience as a (qualified) Diesel Mechanic with 5 years’ experience track record as Workshop supervisor (Managerial skills ) within the bus transport industry;
Specialization in bus engine maintenance, repairs and overhaul of any make or model;
Valid Driver’s Code 14 License;
Experience in airbrake system and auto electrical of heavy duty vehicles;
Energetic, results-orientated, self-motivated and able to work independently
Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations
Planning abilities in a diverse environment (Ability to plan and schedule work)
Leadership abilities (Ability to work with people and to lead a team)
Possess communication and human relations skills
Must be able to work under pressure, varied hours and sometimes conflicting deadlines
