Operations Manager

Description FibreUP (PTY)Ltd is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee fibre infrastructure projects and maintenance operations across the Western Cape, Eastern Cape regions, KZN and Central Regions.

Job Summary: Responsible for overseeing all regional fibre network operations, including civil and optical builds, as well as maintenance delivery.

This role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with safety and quality standards.

Provides strategic leadership to Area Network Owners and maintenance teams, driving operational excellence, proactive network performance, and client satisfaction.

Manages regional budgets, resources, and stakeholder relations while ensuring accurate project reporting and compliance.

Oversees network design, costing, and planning to support sustainable growth and service reliability.

Responsibilities are but not limited to: Oversee optical build, civil build, and fibre maintenance projects, Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards, Manage and coordinate Area Network Owners and maintenance teams, Provide leadership and mentorship to direct subordinates, Ensure network integrity and performance through proactive maintenance and timely fault resolution, Manage client and stakeholder engagement, Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, Manage regional budgets, resources, and equipment allocation, Report updating, Daily, Weekly and Monthly, Fibre Optic Network Design Planning (Visio, GE Small-world & AutoCAD),Quotations & Costing – From surveying, planning, costing, submission & follow-ups.

Qualifications and Requirements: Tertiary Qualification in Operations, Construction, Project Management or equivalent,10+ years of experience in fibre telecommunication infrastructure and management, Certifications in ed Fibre Optic Technician, Design and Testing Specialist Qualifications, Proven track record in managing large-scale projects and maintenance operations, Strong knowledge of technical aspects of fibre optic networks, Proven leadership experience managing multiple teams Skills: In-depth knowledge of fibre network infrastructure, construction, and maintenance, Proficiency in project management methodologies and field operations management, Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, Proficiency in using KMZ files, GE Small world, Excel, Smartsheet, and project management software Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle (allowance and fuel provided),Ability to work extended hours and overnight travel when needed, Strong adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, Hands-on mentality with willingness to be actively involved in field operations Please send your resume/CV
