Maintenance Industrial Mechanics

Craftsmen Contractors is hiring experienced Maintenance Industrial Mechanics for the Minden, La. area. This job is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment. These are temp-to-permanent positions for an industrial manufacturing facility. Will need to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Pay rate: $23.70 - $35.80/hour depending on experience

No per diem is offered.

Job Duties:

* Perform repairs to plant machinery. Includes, but is not limited to: forklifts, front-end loaders, skid steers, backhoes, boom lifts, scissor lifts, plant vehicles, truck cranes, straddle lifts, and golf carts.

* Perform repairs on plant equipment. Includes, but is not limited to: rod chompers, saws, presses, welding machines, overhead hoists, pressure washers, and compressors.

* Perform repairs on small pneumatic and hydraulic tools.

* Perform basic grinding, drilling, lathe, welding, and other shop maintenance actions.

* Perform preventative maintenance inspections of vehicles, equipment, and machinery.

* Perform other duties as required by the crew leader or supervisor. This may include helping the building and grounds crews or electricians, etc.

* Run heavy equipment, rebuild motors, and work on small engines.

* Basic cleaning and housekeeping duties.

Job Requirements:

* HS diploma / GED required.

* 2-5 years of previous maintenance/industrial mechanic experience.

* Experience operating heavy equipment

* Experience rebuilding motors

* Experience working on small engines

* Pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen prior to being hired.

* Do a face to face job interview.

* Must pass forklift certification test.

* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.

* Must possess a mechanical aptitude.

* Be familiar with belts, bearings, pulleys, chains, sprockets, etc.

* Be familiar with most hand tools and common power tools.

* Must be knowledgeable of bearing plates and hydraulic presses, gearboxes and speed reducers.

* Good judgment and attention to detail.

* Ability to read, comprehend and assimilate information.

* Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships and interact effectively with all levels of employees.

* Will have to wear personal protective equipment, such as protective eyewear and steel-toed boots and be exposed to seasonal temperatures throughout the year.

* Ability to operate hand and power tools.

* Job requires standing for short periods of time while working on mechanical equipment and also stooping or crouching regularly when working with mechanical equipment.

* Job requires bending at the waist and legs

* Be able to climb a stepladder in order to work on mechanical equipment in some places.

* Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally when working with mechanical

* equipment and tools on the job.

* Be able to carry objects such as ladders or parts from warehouse.

* Ability to work in various environments. Exposed to such hazardous conditions as extreme noise levels
