The role
As a Buyer – Construction, you’ll be at the heart of delivering complex and high-profile projects that shape the future of defence, aerospace, and engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your procurement expertise to construction and capital investment projects that make a real difference to national security and infrastructure.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
Managing procurement for construction and capital projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
Preparing and issuing ITTs, RFQs, and RFIs, and evaluating bids to secure best value.
Drafting and negotiating contracts using NEC4 suite, including amendments and extensions.
Conducting supplier due diligence and supporting technical specification development.
Driving sourcing strategies to minimise risk and total cost of ownership.
You’ll work 36 hours per week, based at our Rosyth site. Hybrid working patterns are available, with three days onsite and two days from home.
Essential experience of the Buyer – Construction:
Proven experience managing contract delivery in construction, engineering, capital procurement, or manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of construction contract forms (e.g., NEC).
Awareness of CDM Regulations.
Skilled in stakeholder engagement and supplier management.
Experience using procurement tools and contract management systems.
Qualifications for the Buyer – Construction:
Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in engineering or supply chain.
Membership of a professional body such as CIPS (Level 4 or above) is advantageous.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
