Senior Team Lead - Outfit

We currently have a position for a Senior Team Lead – Outfit.

As Senior Team Lead – Outfit you will provide specialist engineering expertise to organise and co-ordinate significant aspects of engineering activity within the business to ensure defined objectives are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and cost.

You will assume full managerial control of one or a number of technical teams across sites. This will include delegation of authority on management functions such as setting strategy/direction, budget management, decision making, performance reviews, pay decisions and resourcing decisions.

This is a key role where you are likely to be working as a Senior Team Lead or in an Associate Manager/step-up developmental role to prepare for a future Management role. You will already be capable and have experience of leading a team of technical team leaders and technical professionals within Detail Design.

Your main responsibilities as Senior Team Lead Outfit:

· Line management and accountability of a team of Detail Designers for the delivery of a complex scope of work across a stage of the engineering lifecycle, this includes management and accountability for a number of technical teams across sites where required, including subordinate Leading Detail Designers and Senior Detail Designers.

· Coach team members on performance, complete employee performance evaluations and recommends pay actions.

· Motivate teams and make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated management authority.

· Provide specialist technical advice and guidance to others relating to area of expertise.

· Provide an inclusive environment within teams, recognising the value in diversity.

· Manage performance of Cost, Schedule and Quality for delivery of a scope of work across a stage of the engineering lifecycle.

· Liaise closely with Programme Management on delivery performance status and Sub-Discipline Technical Specialists on technical performance and quality.

· Support development of Detail Design resources in line with Detail Design Capability Strategy.

· Demonstrate SHEQ leadership by ensuring conformance with SHE and Quality requirements and checking/reviewing team’s outputs.

· Supervise, coach and mentor team members, ensuring they understand systems and protocols on tasks and ensure that their work is reviewed and approved.

· Make informed decisions based on policies, procedures and delivery plans to ensure task completion; coordination of work activities taking into consideration wider delivery inputs and outputs.

· Report on performance of team including schedule, cost, time and quality of work.

· Work with a high degree of technical autonomy for scope assigned which includes but is not limited to spatial integration of complex designs and engineering outputs.

· Support the developing, maintaining and modifying engineering tools, processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.

· Manage resources to produce and develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards and carry out detail design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.

· Use problem solving techniques, analysis and applied knowledge to identify solutions to achieve design intent and enable operational and manufacturing activity.

· Establish and maintain key stakeholder interfaces internally and externally on matters related to Detail Design delivery.

· Support the development of best practice to increase the capability, performance of tools and processes.

· Support the identification of training requirements, skills gaps and development requirements of own discipline.

Your skills and qualifications:

· Considerable experience in engineering or technical role.

· Experience of large-scale engineering projects.

· Requires a breadth and depth of specialist technical knowledge and a broad experience of processes, data systems and the business environment.

· Competent in processes, procedures and standards related to area of technical expertise.

· People management, motivation, performance coaching, and performance management.

· Would be desirable if post holder has IEng status or working towards CEng status (UK).
