Job Description
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry under the School of Sciences and Health at Elizabethtown College invites applications for Adjunct Instructors to teach lecture and laboratory courses in General, Organic, and Physical Chemistry. This position will be an in-person teaching role only, remote teaching is not available.
We are expanding our adjunct faculty pool and are seeking dynamic educators who bring academic expertise and real-world industry experience to the classroom and teaching laboratory.
These are part-time positions with potential for renewal based on performance and departmental needs. General chemistry and organic chemistry positions are for laboratory instruction while physical chemistry is for lecture instruction.
Job Duties
• Deliver engaging and effective instruction in assigned chemistry lecture or laboratory courses.
• Prepare course materials and assessments aligned with departmental standards and course learning outcomes.
• Provide timely feedback and support to students.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success.
Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in chemistry or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Physical Chemistry.
• Commitment to inclusive and student-centered teaching practices.

Please note due to payroll tax limitations, Elizabethtown College can only employ applicants who reside in one of the following states (DE, PA, MD or NJ).*Also, applicants requiring visa sponsorship will not be eligible for employment as this is a part-time faculty position.
Preferred Qualifications
• Industry experience in a chemistry-related field is highly valued and will enhance a candidate's competitiveness, particularly when coupled with an openness to mentorship by full-time departmental faculty to promote teaching effectiveness.
• Experience in developing and/or delivering online coursework in the area of physical chemistry will be considered.
