Our client is seeking a Project Manager for a Direct Hire Contractual position.
As a key member of the Development team, the Project Manager will lead the execution of crucial capital projects, including a significant facility upgrade. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification, maintaining seamless communication with all internal and external stakeholders. Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the successful execution of a capital upgrade project, ensuring it's delivered on time, on budget, and to performance specifications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, commercial and legal) to successfully deliver the project in line with expected standards
Continuously identify and mitigate construction project risks
Oversee the administration and execution of all design-build, vendor supply, and consultant contracts, ensuring project delivery adheres to all requirements and specifications
Oversee daily construction, proactively resolving issues to ensure work is safely accomplished and fully compliant with all H&S guidelines, project contracts, specifications, environmental requirements, permits, and industry best practices
Manage project administration and document control in line with company standards
Coordinate and maintain excellent working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders—including approval agencies, contractors, architects, engineers, and consultants—to ensure construction work meets the satisfaction of all parties
Develop comprehensive handover, integration, and commissioning plans, ensuring a seamless transition and successful project handover to the operations team
Oversee and report on project costs and budget, including accruals, updating project forecasts and trackers, and reviewing and approving invoices
Proactively manage and report on project schedule, including milestone and critical path tracking
Provide regular, comprehensive project reports, including updates on schedule, budget, and risks, for both internal and external stakeholders, including leadership and executive teams
Acquire all mandated permits essential for project execution
Ensure quality assurance across all project stages: engineering, procurement, construction, and operations
Requirements:
A minimum of 7 years of experience in capital project management and delivery of complex projects, including projects greater than $50M value
Post Secondary degree (engineering, architectural science, construction management)
Experience with the oversight of various types of CCDC contracts including the CCDC-14 DB form of contract
Proficient with MS Office (Project/Access, Dynamics 365, etc.)
Excellent communication, organization, time management, and proactivity
Excellent leadership abilities with a proven track record of making and escalating risk-assessed decisions based on established frameworks
Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment and independently
Demonstrate agility in adjusting project processes to accurately align with evolving project requirements and objectives
Assets:
PMP and prior experience with construction project management software is an asset
District energy / thermal energy sector experience, specifically, waste-to-energy an asset
