Portledge School was founded in 1965 and is located on the beautiful North Shore of Long Island. Approximately fifty minutes from NYC by train, Portledge is nestled on a pastoral 63 acre tree-lined campus that is known for its cherry blossoms in spring. Enrolling approximately 515 students in grades PN-12, Portledge offers a competitive college preparatory program in a warm, inclusive community. Job Description/Responsibilities:
Portledge School is seeking substitute teacher candidates who are driven to create a classroom environment where curiosity-driven student learning is a non-negotiable goal and passion is evident on a daily basis. A warm, nurturing educational community with small class sizes makes Portledge an ideal community in which to Substitute teach. Pay for a full day of substitute work is $150.00

Qualifications:
BA Degree minimum
Teaching certification preferred
Candidates with formal teaching experience given preference
Comfort in teaching in both in-person and online environments, and familiarity with technologies necessary for teaching in an online environment
Superb written and oral communication as well as organizational and time management skills
A commitment to embody the qualities of our Portledge community pillars: Kindness, Purpose, Honor, Respect
Ability to develop trusting, supportive relationships with students
Belief in the value of all types of diversity within a school
Anti-racism training desired
Pay Rate: $18.75 per hour ($150 per day)
