Position Overview:
The Intake Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for individuals seeking substance abuse treatment. This role is responsible for guiding clients through the initial assessment process, verifying insurance and eligibility, coordinating admissions, and supporting clients as they transition into care. The Intake Coordinator works closely with clinical staff, case managers, and external partners to ensure a smooth and welcoming entry into our programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and respond to inquiries from prospective clients, family members, and referral sources by phone, email, or in person
Conduct pre-admission screenings to assess eligibility and level of care needs
Gather and document client information, including medical, mental health, and substance use histories
Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations as needed
Schedule and coordinate intake appointments and admissions
Provide clear information about program services, expectations, and policies
Maintain accurate records in accordance with confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure a seamless admission process
Offer empathy, support, and professionalism to clients and their families during a vulnerable time
Front Desk duties
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
Experience in substance abuse treatment, healthcare, or social services preferred
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proficiency with computers and electronic health records (EHR) systems
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
Compassionate, nonjudgmental approach to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
