Math Intervention/Bldg Substitute (Grant Funded)

NATURE OF POSITION: The paraprofessional will assist in the educational needs of students and serve as backup, when needed, to support the classroom in the absence of teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS: * Associates Degree; OR 60+ credit hours from a degree granting college/university * Ability to receive a substitute permit from the State of Michigan * Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), preferred but not required * Parental experience desired but not required * Ability to work well with children and adults * Maintain a general interest in helping children in their educational process * Calm and patient demeanor RESPONSIBILITIES: The nature of the responsibilities listed are a reflection of the job and are not intended to be all-inclusive * Assist in individual or small group pupil instruction * Assist classroom teacher(s) in maintaining discipline and supervision in the classroom * Assist in escorting students to and from various rooms, when necessary * Demonstrate initiative and creativity with student(s) * Serve as substitute teacher in the event of a lack of teacher coverage in the building * Adhere to district health and safety procedures * Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the principal and/or classroom teacher(s)
