Elementary Special Education Teacher with a Concentration in Math and Reading

Reports To: Elementary Principal

Position Summary: The Elementary Special Education Teacher with a concentration in Math and Reading collaborates with parents, students, classroom teachers, and administrators to facilitate meeting the needs of students who are low in math and reading skills.

Position Qualifications:

Born again Christian

Bachelor's Degree in Special Education

Current Virginia certification in Special Education and ACSI certification preferred

3 years of experience in working with elementary special education children

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborates with teachers to improve student outcomes by determining individual student weaknesses in math and/or reading

Provides direct support to students needing extra help with math and reading concepts with targeted instruction

Reteach and remediate concepts when needed

Administer small group testing for QMAT and IOWA tests

Assist teachers by going into classrooms and helping with small groups where needed as time allows

Uses data to track student progress and adjust teaching strategies

Evaluation: The Elementary Special Education Teacher will be evaluated by the Elementary School Administrators each year. This evaluation will be based on the functions and responsibilities outlined in this job description.
