Overview
An experienced Systems Engineering Manager is urgently required to join the Telecommunications division of a leading satellite manufacturer in Northern Germany. This is a key technical and organisational role supporting a constellation program, initially in Phase B1, with strong collaboration across engineering, project management, and customer interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the system engineers in the constellation program, ensuring mission technical goals are met.
Act as a technical interface between project management and the customer.
Define system requirements (incl. verification approach) in coordination with project management.
Evaluate technical design and ongoing development; initiate independent analyses and corrective actions for deviations.
Define and implement system engineering processes, organisational workflows, and technical coordination between departments.
Ensure efficient technical information exchange and cross-functional collaboration within the project and broader engineering teams.
Organise regular project checkpoints, including cost and technical budgeting at the system level.
Ensure timely delivery of system engineering team inputs and outputs.
Support risk assessments, cost structure evaluations, and overall project planning.
Collaborate closely with the payload and satellite technology departments on satellite design.
Contribute to related studies, cost optimisation, and ongoing product development for the telecommunications platform.
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the space sector, particularly as a technical/system leader in studies (Phases A/B) and projects (Phases B2/C/D).
Solid experience in system engineering, including mission definition, constellation, and satellite/platform/subsystem design (incl. AIV/AIT phases).
Deep understanding of space communication systems, especially telecommunications satellites.
