Job Description:

*Hybrid working - 3 days a week in our Newcastle office

Sage has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Content Designer to join our Product

Experience Design (XD) team to design user interfaces and digital experiences for Sage apps.

You’ll work closely with UX designers, researchers, business analysts/solution designers,

product managers, developers, and consult with other teams such as customer support and

learning services.

At Sage, we’re passionate about creating clear, compelling, accessible content that provides

customers with the information they need, when they need it, and in the format they expect.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design in-product content: Create microcopy such as messaging, descriptions, labels

(for buttons, icons, menus, etc.) and other elements. Write for a global audience with an

understanding of localisation and translation. Coordinate the translation of content into

European languages in collaboration with translators as needed.

• Help shape the user journey: Understand how users (from beginners to experts) learn

what information they need at each step to complete their tasks successfully.

• Work with the design team: Collaborate with UX designers to create journey maps,

wireframes, prototypes and design user interfaces for releases.

• Learn from our users: Work with and support user researchers, analysing and iterating

content based on data and usability findings.

• Build relationships with stakeholders: Understand business requirements and share

content strategies and designs.

• Participate in quality assurance: Ensure content is accurate and effective before

products or features are released.

• Contribute to content guidelines: Follow our writing style guides, design standards,

and use writing tools to ensure consistency across products and contribute to our Content Community of Practice.

What we offer

We're committed to helping you:

• Make a real-world impact: Your work will directly help small business owners use our

products more effectively.

• Learn and grow: We provide dedicated time and resources for you to learn new skills,

explore content design concepts, and attend relevant events.

• Gain experience: You'll get hands-on support and guidance from your product team as

well as content designers in the wider content community.

• Make a difference: Participate in company-wide initiatives, volunteer days, and

contribute to our communities.

Required qualifications

• Experience as a Content Designer; UX writing, or in a similar content role within B2B or

SaaS environments.

• A strong understanding of user-centered design; in practice, methodologies, and

principles.

• Excellent writing and editing skills with experience in using style guides and tone-of

voice guidelines to produce high-quality, consistent content.

• Experience in using evidence, data and research to make content decisions across the

end-to-end user journey, for example user testing outcomes and analytics.

• Proficiency with design tools such as Figma and Miro. Experience with Dovetail is also

helpful.

• Strong interpersonal and soft skills such as communication, collaboration and

teamwork, time management, and stakeholder management.

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to independently manage

change requests and priority shifts.

• Experience working in Agile teams and in Jira or a similar project management tool.

• Knowledge of writing for accessibility and creating content that works for everyone.

• Working with AI and taking an innovative approach to how it can help us improve the

customer experience and workflows.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate:

• Self-motivation and a curiosity about how things work.

• Analytical and strong problem-solving skills, for example, the ability to find legislative

information when needed to design accurate content.

• Passion for creating great customer experiences.

• Dedication to helping users to complete tasks quickly and confidently.

• Following or interest in content design and UX thought leaders.

• Commitment to continuous learning and development.

• Experience of implementing content strategies.

• An understanding of localisation and translation, and experience of collaborating with

translators to translate content into different languages is desirable.

If you’re passionate about user-centred design and want to make an impact on a global scale,

we want to hear from you!
