Tool Setter

Job Description

Job Purpose

The Tool Setter is responsible for preparing, setting, and maintaining tooling used in CNC manufacturing. They ensure that machines are properly tooled to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and prepare tools for CNC machines.

Work closely with the pre-production/tooling manager to resolve tooling issues.

Monitor tool wear and prepare tool life studies.

Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

Basic understanding of machining processes and tooling principles.

Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Experience with CNC machinery (turning, milling, or injection molding), preferred.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles, preferred.

Typical Working Conditions

Workshop or production floor environment.

May require shift work or weekend availability depending on production needs.

Use of PPE (personal protective equipment) is required.
