As a Data Engineer, you'll support the Child Maintenance Service by maintaining clean, well-documented SAS code and helping migrate key products to a modern Big Data stack including Cloudera, Informatica, and cloud tools. You'll resolve incidents, support data analysis, and build scalable ETL solutions.

As a Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting the Child Maintenance Service by delivering business-critical data products using SAS, and helping to migrate these products to a new strategic Big Data technology stack including Cloudera, Informatica and cloud-based tools.

You'll manage and maintain clean, well-documented SAS code, lead incident and problem resolution, and support data analysis and profiling. You'll also work closely with designers and testers to build robust, scalable ETL solutions in the new environment.

You'll be working collaboratively in a cross-functional team at the heart of digital transformation. You'll help shape future data services, support live operations, and contribute to impact assessments that influence policy and service design.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

Team Communication - You can manage both proactive and reactive communication for your team, tailoring messages clearly and concisely for a range of audiences.

Advanced SAS Coding - You can lead SAS coding across a team, working confidently with different versions including SAS 9.4+ and SAS Viya.

Technical Requirements & Testing - You can collate and review complex technical specifications, and define robust test conditions for data, tools, and process deliverables.

Data Profiling & Source Analysis - You can undertake and apply advanced data profiling and source system analysis, while supporting colleagues to build their capability in this area.

Database Principles & SQL - You can apply advanced database principles and write SQL across platforms, particularly using Hive and Impala for querying and analysis.

Data Solution Design - You can design effective data solutions using Cloudera, aligning technical delivery with business needs.
