Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and running laboratory experiments, analyzing test specimens, and performing various tasks related to materials selection and corrosion testing and analysis. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of chemistry.
Responsibilities
Set-up and run laboratory experiments.
Analyze test specimens.
Perform tasks on projects relating to materials selection and corrosion testing and analysis, including experimental setup, data collection, and data reporting.
Inspect, test, repair, and install equipment.
Develop the capability of working independently on project activities while performing work under the supervision of the project investigator.
Assist more experienced technicians, technologists, and professionals on technical assignments.
Follow the Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Assurance program on projects.
Record research activities performed in lab book.
Perform other duties as assigned such as solution preparation, cleaning test cells, moving items throughout the lab, and calibrating equipment (following a prescribed procedure).
Essential Skills
Experience or knowledge in chemistry (from degree or work experience).
Strong mechanical aptitude, capable of troubleshooting and utilizing tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a lab environment.
Knowledge in chemical engineering and materials testing.
Work Environment
The position is based in a lab setting with 12 other technicians, with working hours typically from 8am-5pm, although flexibility is offered with a start time between 7am-9am. Overtime is common, and candidates should be prepared to work additional hours on a regular basis. The lab is the only one in North America and supports many business units. It operates in a unique space between research and production labs, engaging in projects such as hydrogen corrosion testing and CO2 capture/transfer/storage testing.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
