Job Summary: Assists other mechanics, machinery maintenance worker, and miscellaneous equipment and maintenance operator with repairs. Construction work as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

-Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all Highway Department equipment.

-Responsible for the repairs and maintenance of light and heavy-duty highway construction machinery and equipment.

-Responsible for the overhaul and repair of both gasoline and diesel engines.

-Responsible for operation of machine shop tools, lathe, milling machines and equipment. -Responsible for the operation of gas and electric welding equipment.

-Responsible for repairs for all hydraulic systems including hoses and couplings.

-Required to occasionally operate highway machinery.

-Required to sweep the floor.

-Performs any other related highway maintenance and construction work as required.

Work Requirements:

-Associate's degree in automotive or diesel technician.

-Three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

-Requires a valid Wisconsin driver's license with Class A CDL and adequate insurance as required by County Policy.
