Job Summary:
Reporting to the YWCA NENY Advocacy coordinator, the Victim Specialist Intern will assist victims of Domestic Violence (DV) by supporting intervention services and providing aid through court-related processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist as part of an interdisciplinary team providing DV intervention services.
Support assessment, linkage, and referral of individuals in crisis to appropriate services (e.g., shelter, legal services, health services).
Aid individuals in completing and filing court documents such as Orders of Protection (OOP) and custody filings.
Assist in accompanying individuals to court appearances, offering emotional support throughout the process.
Collaborate with CPS caseworkers, case managers, and other DV service providers in the community.
Participate in home visits with CPS caseworkers, when required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Basic understanding of crisis intervention and the court system.
Familiarity with domestic violence issues and related legal implications.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet research, and database use.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information.
Education and Experience:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or a related field.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Ability to climb stairs when necessary.
Additional Requirements:
Must have a clean driving record and access to reliable transportation for work-related travel.
