A Day in the LifeMedtronic is seeking a Senior Microbiologist - Sterilization Supervisor to join its team in Mirandola. In this key role, you will lead the Sterility Assurance team, supporting both the Mirandola and Reggiolo sites. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of sterility, quality, and regulatory compliance across all operations.

Reporting directly to the EMEA Sterility Assurance Leader, you will play a crucial role in driving excellence within sterility assurance processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and contributing to Medtronic’s mission of improving lives through innovative healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Management and supervisory professional overseeing four employees, primarily engaged in tactical, operational, and some strategic activities related to sterilization and microbiology

Leads, directs, and reviews the work of team members to accomplish operational plans and results, meeting or exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives

Supports internal and external inspections, and ensures timely resolution of audit and inspection findings

General knowledge of chemical and microbiological analyses to support the team

Follows protocols and regulations to clean, store, and/or deliver products, supplies, and instruments

Interprets and evaluates analyses for accuracy and precision against established specifications, recommending and implementing corrective actions when necessary

Applies existing techniques and procedures, recommending and implementing modifications for improved efficiency, or devising and developing new analytical methods and techniques

Prepares reports and necessary documentation (e.g., Corrective and Preventive Actions) and provides them to relevant internal and external stakeholders

Ensures Sterility Assurance programs and policies are maintained and regularly updated

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience

Strong understanding of management approaches, including work scheduling, prioritization, coaching, and process execution

Proven experience in leading and developing a team

Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Advanced knowledge of the field, gained through a combination of education and hands-on experience

Ability to prioritize and drive strategic initiatives while effectively allocating resources

Desirable qualifications include Lean Six Sigma knowledge or certification (Yellow Belt or Green Belt) and a solid understanding of project management fundamentals.
