Salmons, Inc. is hiring a Fleet and Facility Safety Manager to oversee all safety compliance, procedures, and training activities at its three facilities in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth. Our industries include grain merchandising and transportation, ready-mix concrete manufacturing, mechanical dredging, and concrete recycling.

Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

· Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

· Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement

· Conduct and document regular safety meetings at all locations

· Conduct the interviewing, testing, and hiring process for CDL drivers. Coordinate the initial new driver orientation and training as well as ongoing ride-along as needed

· Oversee ongoing safety training for CDL drivers as well as other positions involving heavy equipment operation. Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and relevant regulatory changes

· Maintain driver compliance files, ensuring medical cards are up-to-date and driving records monitored

· Conduct accident investigations and complete reports including any recommended retraining necessary, handling disciplinary action as needed

· Maintain required OSHA logs and submit any OSHA accident reporting within the required time limitRequirements:

· At least two years of experience with industrial and/or motor carrier safety regulations, procedures, and industry best practices

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

· OSHA 30 or other certifications a plus

· Active CDL or former CDL licensure is a plus, but current driver’s license required to travel to our 3 locations within Hampton Roads

· Effective leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities to identify needs and help improve others’ knowledge and skills
