Job Description:\n\nEmergency Management Technician FLSA Designation: NonexemptPay Grade: 7 This position takes on the responsibilities of the Emergency Management Coordinator if needed.
Performs a variety of administrative and managerial duties in the County’s Emergency Management Plans by working with local agencies and organizations to prepare for disasters and emergencies through ongoing outreach, planning, training and exercising.
The job includes working closely with the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), providing public outreach for disaster preparedness, providing or arranging for training exercises with County Emergency Operations Center staff, grant writing, and management efforts and responding as necessary to emergency situations, monitors county compliance with federal, state and county laws governing emergency management.
The work is performed under the supervision of the Emergency Management Coordinator.
Essential FunctionsAssists in administering the County’s disaster response system and plan; Serves as liaison and secretary to oversee and work cooperatively with the LEPC Committee on monthly meetings to represent County’s interests in emergency and disaster planning and services; Serves as assistant to the Coordinator with monthly Response Agency Committee meetings with the Sheriff’s Office and Fire District to discuss various emergency response practices and procedures; Performs public relations functions to create awareness and educate the public on issues relative to emergency services; Develops, prepares and/or arranges, and conducts periodic disaster training and exercises with County staff, cities, various emergency response agencies, including state police, sheriff, fire district, city, county, and state highway departments and other private organizations to test and refine concepts and plans consistent with emergency plans; Recruits, trains and performs exercises with the County Emergency Operations Center staff and others as needed; Responds to Emergencies/Disasters as needed; Rotates being on-call on evenings and weekends with the Emergency Management Coordinator; Participates in Emergency Operations Center functions and activities during emergencies including coordinating response and recovery efforts; Assists in ensuring that plans, procedures, supplies and equipment are readily available for emergency situations; Assist other government organizations with technical assistance with the development, preparation and update of their emergency plans to minimize the impact of emergency situations; Prepares, writes, edits, and updates periodically the County emergency management plans required by federal and state agencies; Assists in researching and writing grant applications; Assists with grant management processes for local government access to Homeland Security Grants (applications, awards, reporting, and auditing); Maintains records, documentation, and logs, including materials, tools, supplies, and equipment for emergency response; Performs a variety of correspondence; generates report documentation and statistics; updates county website on LEPC Minutes, tracks grant expenditures to ensure accounting and timely reporting for reimbursement of county funds.
Attends emergency preparedness meetings, hearings, conferences and training sessions; conducts research or reads materials to maintain current on emergency management; Keeps Emergency Management Coordinator apprised of work activities and any specific issues that may arise; Responds to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner; Performs other duties as assigned.

Acceptable Experience and TrainingGraduation from college with a bachelor’s degree; and Four (4) years of emergency management experience; and Four (4) years of adult instruction experience; and Experience in grant writing and grant management is preferred; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this job.

Class Title: Mosquito Abatement District Director Pay Grade: 7 FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt Established: 6-15 Class Summary/Primary Function The principal function of an employee in this class is to serve as the Mosquito Abatement District (MAD) Director, working with a Board of Trustees to oversee district operations.
This includes preparing budgets, administering funds, coordinating between the County and the MAD board, and overseeing the operations of the district.
The position reports to the Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees.
