Whitehall City Schools Job Description: Long-Term Substitute Teacher Reports To: Building Principal Approved Through: Educational Service Center (ESC) of Central Ohio Employment Status: Temporary (Long-Term Substitute Assignment) Time Frame: 11/26/25 - 2/4/26 Position Summary The Long-Term Substitute Teacher serves as the classroom instructor during the extended absence (such as maternity leave or medical leave) of a regular, licensed teacher.
The individual in this role ensures continuity of instruction, maintains an effective learning environment, and supports student academic and social-emotional growth in alignment with district goals and curriculum standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Provide instruction consistent with the plans, curriculum, and expectations of the regular classroom teacher.
* Develop and implement lesson plans when long-term coverage extends beyond available teacher plans.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress as required.
* Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies and the RAMWay behavioral expectations.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff regarding assignments, expectations, and progress.
* Collaborate with grade-level or department teams as needed to ensure consistency and continuity of learning.
* Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and other assigned duties during the assignment period.
* Utilize available instructional resources, technology, and materials effectively to engage students.
* Ensure a safe and respectful learning environment that promotes inclusion, equity, and positive relationships.
* Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Qualifications * Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
* Licensure: Valid Substitute Teaching License issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
* Employment Approval: Must be approved through the Educational Service Center (ESC) of Central Ohio.

Evaluation Performance will be evaluated by the Building Principal and/or ESC Supervisor in accordance with district and ESC guidelines for substitute employees.
