Job Duties: SSCPS seeks On-Call School Bus Drivers to work on an on-call basis the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year.
School Bus Drivers are responsible for safely transporting SSCPS K-12 students to school related events, field trips, athletic practices, athletic games, and other activities.
Duties: • Safely transport children and staff to school related activities and events • Required to perform pre and post trip inspections and travel log • Required to maintain a safe and clean bus (interior and exterior) • Required to be familiar with all hybrid bus functions and hybrid bus charging station • Required to check that the bus is empty of children at the conclusion of each trip by checking all seats and floors • Required to secure the bus at the conclusion of each bus run • Required to park the bus in legal parking spaces at all events • Monitor vehicle performance and notify Director of Facilities of any issues, needed repairs etc.
• Monitors vehicle gas levels and ensures vehicle is adequately fueled before each departure • Required to attend any mandatory Massachusetts certification training sessions annually • Required to perform three times annually "Bus Safety" drills for all SSCPS students Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Trustworthy, reliable and have an excellent driving record • Excellent driving skills • Ability to maintain order and discipline while driving students • Ability to learn and understand the hybrid bus mechanical's within the bus • Must be aware of school's code of conduct and be able to report any infractions to the Principals • Ability to exercise caution when children are entering and exiting the vehicle • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, directions, guidelines and objections • Must be adaptable to perform under stress when confronted with an emergency • Excellent communication skills • Ability to work with diverse children, in grade K-12, including those with special needs, parents and faculty • Ability to work effectively as a team member
