Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Installation Quality Control (QC) professional responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of mechanical installations in compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements. The role involves inspection, documentation, and coordination with site teams and subcontractors to ensure all mechanical systems are installed correctly and meet required standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, leadership skills, and hands-on experience with conveyor systems (belt, roller, overhead, or automated systems).
Key Responsibilities
Inspect and monitor mechanical installation activities.
Ensure installations comply with engineering drawings, technical specifications, codes, and safety standards.
Work with the site lead and installation team to correct any installation issues.
Prepare and maintain comprehensive QC documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, Material Submittals, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Witness and verify functional testing of mechanical systems.
Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors to ensure timely quality checks.
Identify and report any non-conformities or deviations from approved plans and propose corrective actions.
Review and verify material deliveries to ensure compliance with approved data sheets and specifications.
Participate in quality audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure all quality records are updated and properly stored for final project handover.
Support commissioning and startup activities with QC checks and documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of lead/supervisory experience in mechanical conveyor installation and/or QC.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, layouts, and schematics.
Solid understanding of mechanical and basic electrical installation principles.
Familiarity with tools, machinery, and safety procedures related to mechanical installations.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Basic computer literacy for documentation and reporting.
Ability to travel and stay on-site for extended periods as required.
Strong documentation and reporting skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and relevant QC software/tools.
Experience with automated or robotic conveyor systems (e.g., in distribution centers or warehouses).
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed on-site, which may involve extended travel and overnight stays.
Physically demanding work including standing, lifting, bending, and use of tools.
Exposure to industrial environments (noise, dust, equipment operation).
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
