Description:

Our client, a leader in the utility construction and infrastructure space, is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their growing team. This role is ideal for a technically strong estimator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing hands-on estimating with strategic input into bid development and execution planning.

As a key member of the estimating group, the Senior Estimator will lead distribution-focused estimates while contributing technical expertise to broader transmission and substation pursuits. Working closely with operations, commercial, and project delivery teams, this individual will play a central role in driving accurate cost development, competitive pricing, and predictable project outcomes.

This is an opportunity to join a respected organization operating across large-scale and recurring utility infrastructure programs. You’ll work alongside a team of experienced construction professionals who value accuracy, collaboration, and technical excellence — and play a visible role in shaping the company’s bid competitiveness and long-term growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for distribution projects, with exposure to transmission and substation scopes.

Translate engineering designs, scopes, and specifications into accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost models.

Integrate execution methodologies, risk assessments, and market intelligence into proposals.

Partner with operations leaders to ensure bids reflect field realities, terrain, and resource considerations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and availability.

Mentor and support junior estimators, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across estimating deliverables.

Participate in bid reviews, client discussions, and post-bid evaluations to refine future estimating strategies.

Key Skills and Qualifications Include:

Minimum 5 years of progressive estimating experience within utility, heavy or linear construction, with strong specialization in distribution projects.

Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.

Exposure to transmission and substation estimating considered an asset.

Deep understanding of unit-based estimating, cost modeling, and risk integration.

Proficiency with estimating software platforms and MS Office.

Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Proven ability to lead by example and mentor other estimators.

Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.

Valid driver’s license: occasional travel for site visits or bid reviews required.

We thank all applicants for their interest in the posted position, however only those candidates that meet the qualifications of the role will be contact by our team.
