Warehouse/Delivery

General Definition of Work:

Performs intermediate semiskilled work transporting items throughout the school system; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:

Picking up and delivering supplies and materials; preparing and maintaining records.

Collects, transports and delivers mail, supplies, textbooks, other materials and documents.

Maintains log and related records.

Sorts, indexes and files materials.

Performs preventive maintenance on delivery vehicle; checks fluid levels, tires, etc.

Delivers mail to the post office.

Delivers and picks up various materials.

Performs custodial/grounds keeping duties as needed.

Performs related tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

General knowledge of the geography of the County and location of important buildings; some knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; some knowledge of business mathematics; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to operate light automotive vehicles safely; ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some courier service experience.

Physical Requirements:

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.

Special Requirements:

Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
