Role: Head of R&D and Product Development – Mexico (Battery-Driven FailSafe Energy Systems)
Location: Monterrey (LATAM HQ), Mexico
Role Purpose: As a key member of the global technology leadership team, the Head of R&D and Product Development will architect and lead Clarios’ strategic product development capability in Mexico. This executive role is accountable for transforming the regional footprint into a globally integrated innovation hub, delivering intelligent fail-safe energy systems. The role will oversee a rapidly scaling organization expected to exceed 100+ FTEs, spanning embedded systems, functional safety, systems engineering, and advanced testing.
Strategic Responsibilities
Enterprise Leadership & Vision
Define and execute a multi-phase strategy to build Mexico’s product development center from testing-only to full-cycle innovation and design.
Serve as a key voice in global product strategy, influencing roadmap decisions, investment priorities, and technology platforms.
Represent Mexico’s product development capabilities in global governance forums, ensuring alignment with CTO-level objectives and enterprise-wide innovation goals.
Organizational Scale & Talent Strategy
Lead organizational design, talent acquisition, and capability building across embedded software, functional safety, systems design, and predictive analytics.
Partner with HR and academic institutions (CLAUT, Tec de Monterrey, UANL) to create sustainable talent pipelines and co-innovation programs.
Build a high-performance culture that supports agile development, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous learning.
Technology & Product Delivery
Oversee ASPICE-compliant validation and AUTOSAR-based development for intelligent energy systems.
Drive functional safety architecture under ISO 26262, including ASIL decomposition and fail-operational design.
Champion virtual prototyping and predictive analytics (MIL/SIL/HIL), accelerating time-to-market and design quality.
Ensure seamless integration with global Tier-1 suppliers and internal labs, fostering knowledge transfer and feedback loops.
Qualifications & Experience
Advanced engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Systems, Mechatronics, or related).
12+ years in product development, with 5+ years in executive leadership roles within automotive or energy systems.
Proven success in scaling technical organizations, leading global programs, and delivering complex embedded systems.
Expertise in ASPICE, AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, FMEA/FMEDA, and predictive engineering analytics.
Strong executive presence, strategic thinking, and cross-cultural leadership capabilities.
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
Strategic Impact
This role is pivotal to Clarios’ transformation in North America—elevating Mexico’s operations into a globally recognized product development powerhouse. Will drive innovation, talent, and execution at scale, contributing directly to the CTO’s enterprise vision and Clarios’ leadership in battery-powered safety systems.
