Construction Estimator

Overview:

The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation. This role plays a critical part in helping the company secure profitable work by determining the total cost of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services required for each project. The Estimator works closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to develop detailed and reliable estimates that support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimate Preparation:

Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand the scope of work.

Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.

Develop conceptual and schematic estimates during the early design phases.

Bidding & Proposal Development:

Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.

Prepare bid packages, proposals, and scope sheets for submission to clients.

Participate in bid reviews and ensure final proposals meet project and company requirements.

Cost Analysis & Budgeting:

Analyze historical cost data and market trends to support accurate forecasting and budgeting.

Assist project teams with cost control during project execution.

Value Engineering:

Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative construction methods or materials.

Recommend solutions to improve project efficiency and profitability.

Coordination & Communication:

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure estimates reflect actual jobsite conditions and company capabilities.

Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry contacts to obtain competitive pricing and up-to-date market information.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain organized records of estimates, bid results, and pricing data for future reference.

Prepare and present cost reports and analysis to management.
