The role
As a Weapons Engineering Lead Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your expertise will directly contribute to national defence and your own professional growth.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead a small team of skilled Technicians working on the maintenance, installation and fault diagnosis of aviation, degaussing and munition systems during complex refit periods of T23 Warships.
Leading maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Ensuring systems meet engineering standards and operational readiness
Supporting planned maintenance and defect resolution to meet performance targets
Presenting systems for Harbour Acceptance Trials (HAT)
Managing health and safety compliance within your section
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Weapon Engineering Lead Technician
Proven experience as a mechanically and electrically biased Technician or Engineer
Hands-on knowledge of complex machinery and systems
Familiarity with degaussing and munitions handling
Experience leading and managing personnel
Strong communication skills and computer literacy
Qualifications for the Weapon Engineering Lead Technician
HNC/ONC or equivalent in an engineering discipline
Equivalent experience will also be considered
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
