As Deputy General Counsel APAC, you will be 2IC supporting the General Counsel APAC and help lead the Legal APAC team on a range of leadership, strategic and legal matters. You will be responsible for overseeing timely resolution and attendance to BAU legal work by the Legal APAC team, and assist the General Counsel APAC on any strategic projects or decisions as required. You will play a key leadership role in the Legal APAC team.

Some of the amazing things you’ll be involved in:

2IC to the General Counsel APAC

Responsible as the People Leader of the legal counsels and paralegals within the Legal APAC team - providing regulator mentoring, feedback and guidance on technical and soft skills, and managing performance as required

Oversight, supervision and responsibility for Legal APAC team’s timely and effective response to, and advice on, a range of BAU legal matters, including general commercial contracting, dispute resolution, regulatory, property, privacy and data law matters

Deliver timely and effective advice to business to address legal risk

Build, and assist the team to build, positive and constructive relationships with business stakeholders

Manage and deliver on legal streams for strategic projects (including M&A or general corporate matters) as required, whilst managing legal risk

Stand in as delegate of the General Counsel APAC when required

Play a supervisory role from time to time as required on privacy matters in conjunction with the Privacy Officer APAC

Provide input and managing legal ops and team workflow management as required

What you will bring:

Demonstrated leadership capabilities in leading and mentoring a team

Deep commercial experience as a lawyer with technology law exposure

Thorough knowledge of contracts and commercial law principles and practices

Proven ability to provide strong advisory and drafting support within a Legal team

Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong commercial acumen

Displaying a team ethos and ability to execute

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

A proactive, professional and flexible approach to work

A persuasive advocate who is not afraid to convey difficult messages to the business in order to identify practical solutions

Humility and ability to work effectively in a team
