Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain a proficient level of expertise in the detail design practices of SEL automation systems.
2. Develop and maintain a proficient level of knowledge of SEL equipment and solutions to electric power system automation applications.
3. Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget to a high level of quality.
4. Train and assist customers with the installation, commissioning, and operation of automation systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.
5. Work in a safe, healthful and environmentally sound manner, report accidents and unsafe conditions promptly, and perform ergonomic exercises to reduce likelihood of injuries.
6. Provide support for other SEL marketing, sales, application engineering, and development activities.
7. Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience/military school training
4 plus years of experience with electrical power systems or industrial automation system practices:
Good knowledge of system protection, integration, and automation applications
Working knowledge of electric power systems and protective relay applications
Excellent technical training
Ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities
Willing to travel as needed
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and/or generation systems
Experience being a part of project teams
