Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm

Working Weeks: Term Time Only – 36 Weeks (With Holiday Pay: 40.328 Weeks)

Salary: £12.21 per hour / £17,234.18 annually (based on 35 working weeks)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Catering Assistant to join our team at WQE College. This is a term-time only position, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve food and beverages to customers

Assist with food preparation including sandwiches and cold items

Carry out general front-of-house duties such as clearing tables, table service, and customer interaction

Operate tills and handle payments

Restock items and manage stock rotation

Maintain cleanliness in both front and back of house areas (sweeping, mopping, general housekeeping)

Work flexibly across different tasks with full training and support provided

Skills & Requirements

Must be aged 18 or over

Previous experience interacting with inmates is advantageous

Ability to motivate and supervise inmates and/or team members in a correctional work environment

Must be able to obtain a food safety certification

Capable of working independently with limited supervision

Good judgment and tact

Ability to follow safety procedures and policies

Must qualify for and maintain correctional facility security clearance

Physically able to meet demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing

Uniforms and PPE may be required
