POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager position provides an exciting opportunity to deliver capital projects, on time and on budget, while meeting CHEO and client requirements. You must be self motivated, deadline oriented and able to build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. By leading the delivery of projects, you will manage the planning, design development, project budget development, implementation and evaluation of key facility projects and initiatives. The Project Manager will be responsible for working with key stakeholders to manage the development of project plans, tracking of deliverables, development and updates to project status reports on low and high complexity projects while also managing scope definition, schedule and budget development. Being proactive and highly detailed, the incumbent will have demonstrated experience in leading projects relative to the fields of architecture, design, mechanical and/or electrical disciplines, have excellent communication (both verbal and written) skill, as well as presentation and networking skills.

The Project Manager will report to the Senior Manager – Projects and will lead/ manage the planning and execution of the end-to-end project delivery within an operational hospital environment. You will be part of a project management team who will liaise with various Hospital departments, Ministry of Health, City Building Department, vendors etc. to ensure project timelines, deliverables and budgets are met and, ultimately, leading to project success.

This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare facilities, project management principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This is an exciting time to join CHEO. We are currently redeveloping the existing campus buildings to address code compliances while renewing major infrastructures. Some of our projects include Sprinkler system implementation program, AHU Asset renewals, building envelope repairs and renewals, Deep Energy Initiatives, expansion and relocation of various departmental programs, Surgical Operating Room Renewals and the preparation of Integrated Treatment Centre occupancy. In addition to some of these major capital projects, we also implement yearly capital expenditure programs such as VAV replacement program, upgrades to our cafeteria, implementation of a lighting upgrade program, and upgrades to our MRI suite and equipment.

JOB SUMMARY:

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Initiation:

Responsible for development of comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.

Conduct risk assessment and develop risk registers in consultation with key project stakeholders.

Coordinate with hospital leadership and department heads to align project goals with organizational objectives.

Project Execution:

Oversee all phases of project implementation, from feasibility, design and construction to commissioning, handover, operational readiness and move management.

Manage project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and safety standards.

Technical Aspects:

Utilize advanced project management software and tools to track progress and manage resources.

Understanding the mechanical, electrical, med-gas and other infrastructure elements at the hospital

Ensure the integration of sustainable design principles and energy-efficient technologies in project execution.

Contractual Aspects:

Coordinate with CHEO procurement department for procurements of services and FF&E and participate in procurement posting activities, evaluations and award.

Responsible for the development of scope of works and evaluation criteria in support of procurement activities.

Administer standard contracts such as CCDC, OAA and CHEO service agreements etc.

Address any contractual disputes or issues promptly and effectively.

Budget and Change Management:

Monitor project budgets and control costs to prevent overruns.

Approve and track expenditures, ensuring financial accountability.

Manage and oversee the tracking, review and implementation of change management.

Stakeholder Communication:

Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including hospital staff, and external stakeholders.

Provide regular updates on project status, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members.

Quality and Performance Monitoring:

Implement quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet specified standards.

Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor progress and compliance.

Address any deviations from project plans and implement corrective actions as needed.

Reporting Aspects:

Prepare detailed project reports, including progress updates, financial summaries, and risk assessments.

Oversee maintenance of comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, reports, and records.

Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.

Utilize reporting tools and software to generate real-time data and insights for stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field OR a combination of Post secondary education experience in the field, and relevant construction projects delivery experience (Essential)

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent (Preferred).

Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on construction project delivery. (Essential)

Strong knowledge of healthcare facility regulations, standards, and best practices, including IPAC (Preferred.)

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. (Essential)

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure. (Essential)

Le poste de gestionnaire de projet offre une occasion intéressante de réaliser des projets d’immobilisations, dans le respect des délais et du budget, tout en répondant aux exigences du CHEO et de la clientèle. Vous devez être une personne motivée, minutieuse et soucieuse des délais, et avoir la capacité d’établir des relations efficaces avec les collègues et les parties prenantes. En menant la réalisation des projets, vous gérerez la planification, l’avant-projet, l’élaboration du budget du projet, la mise en œuvre et l’évaluation des principaux projets et initiatives de l’installation. La ou le gestionnaire de projet sera responsable de collaborer avec les principales parties prenantes pour gérer l’élaboration de plans de projet, le suivi des produits livrables et la mise à jour des rapports d’étape sur les projets peu ou très complexes, tout en gérant la définition de la portée, l’établissement du calendrier et l’élaboration du budget. Capable de faire preuve de proactivité et d’une grande minutie, la ou le titulaire du poste doit avoir une expérience démontrée de la gestion de projets dans les domaines de l’architecture, de la conception, de la mécanique ou de l’électricité; et posséder d’excellentes aptitudes en communication (tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit) ainsi que des compétences en présentation et en réseautage.

La ou le gestionnaire de projet principal(e) relèvera de la ou du gestionnaire de projets et dirigera et gérera la planification et la réalisation des projets du début à la fin dans un environnement hospitalier opérationnel. Vous ferez partie d’une équipe de gestion de projet qui assurera la liaison avec divers services de l’hôpital, le ministère de la Santé, le Service du bâtiment de la Ville, les fournisseurs, etc., pour veiller au respect des échéanciers, des produits livrables et des budgets du projet et, au bout du compte, à sa réussite.

Ce poste exige une solide compréhension des établissements de soins de santé, des principes de gestion de projet et la capacité à travailler en collaboration avec diverses parties prenantes pour s’assurer que les projets sont terminés dans le respect des délais, du budget et des normes de qualité les plus élevées.

En plus de certains de ces grands projets d’immobilisations, nous mettons également en œuvre des programmes annuels de dépenses en capital comme le programme de remplacement de notre système de volume d’air variable, la modernisation de notre cafétéria, la mise en œuvre d’un programme de mise à niveau de l’éclairage et la mise à niveau de notre salle et de notre équipement d’imagerie par résonance magnétique.

Élaborer des plans de projet complets, notamment la portée, le budget, l’échéancier et l’affectation des ressources.

Effectuer les évaluations des risques et élaborer des registres des risques en consultation avec les principales parties prenantes du projet.

Assurer la coordination avec la direction de l’hôpital et les chefs de service afin d’aligner les objectifs du projet sur les objectifs organisationnels.

Exécution du projet :

Veiller au respect de l’ensemble des exigences réglementaires, des politiques de l’hôpital et des normes de sécurité.
