Description
The School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida seeks to fill a 9 month, full-time and tenure-earning, Assistant Professor in Structural Geology, with a start date of August 7, 2026. We seek an innovative scholar advancing the teaching and research in Structural Geology. Candidates who bridge across department strengths in geophysics, tectonics and volcanology are especially encouraged to apply. Salary is negotiable.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active, externally funded research program, teach and develop courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise graduate students, and contribute to departmental and university services. Potential courses include introductory geology, structural geology, tectonics, and field mapping at our field station in Idaho during the summer. Experience or demonstrated interest in fostering interdisciplinary research will be desirable.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Geology, Geophysics, or a closely related field is required. Candidates who are ABD (All But Dissertation) are welcome to apply. This means applicants must have completed all doctoral coursework and examinations and be actively working toward completing their dissertation, but the degree must be conferred by the appointment start date of August 7, 2026. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
