Niyam is seeking a Performance Test Engineer to join our team in support of our work with a federal client. We offer competitive compensation and benefits. This hybrid role is responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test strategies to validate the functionality, usability, and performance of software applications. This role participates in all stages of the software development lifecycle-from requirements analysis through deployment-ensuring that applications meet performance benchmarks, compliance standards, and end-user requirements. The engineer will collaborate closely with development and project teams to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, automate testing processes, and provide detailed reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical and communication skills, hands-on experience with performance and load testing, and the ability to mentor other QA professionals when needed.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Develop and execute performance test plans, scenarios, and scripts to validate system scalability, reliability, and responsiveness.

Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using tools such as Selenium, WebDriver, and other relevant technologies.

Perform load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing to identify system limitations and ensure optimal performance.

Conduct functional, regression, usability, and acceptance testing as part of end-to-end validation efforts.

Perform 508 compliance, security, and accessibility testing in accordance with federal standards.

Analyze test results and perform root cause analysis of performance issues, providing actionable feedback to development teams.

Collaborate with project managers and developers to ensure testing objectives and timelines are met.

Create and maintain documentation for test plans, cases, results, and defect tracking.

Evaluate, recommend, and implement testing tools and strategies to improve automation and performance testing capabilities.

Design, execute, and maintain load and performance test suites, and monitor test results across environments.

Provide regular progress reports and quality metrics to project stakeholders.

May mentor or lead other QA professionals and serve as a subject matter expert on performance testing best practices.

Requirements:

US Citizen with ability to successfully complete federal background investigation.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Minimum of four (4) years of experience in software testing and performance engineering.

Demonstrated experience with:

Performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, K6, or LoadRunner

Automation tools such as Selenium, WebDriver, or equivalent

API testing and validation using tools like Postman

SQL and database performance analysis

Defect tracking and test management systems

Conducting 508 compliance, usability, and security testing

Strong understanding of software quality assurance methodologies, SDLC processes, and CI/CD pipelines.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting federal or government IT systems.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps methodologies.

Experience integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Knowledge of security, accessibility, and compliance standards, including Section 508/WCAG.

Professional certifications such as ISTQB Performance Tester, Certified Software Tester (CSTE), or equivalent.
