About the Role

Chicago Metalcraft is hiring a Press Operator (CNC Press Brake & Punch) to form stainless steel parts for hygienic equipment used in food, pharmaceutical, medical, and clean room environments. This is a full time, onsite role based in South Elgin, IL (an opening may also be available in Rockford, IL).

What You’ll Do

Set up and operate CNC press brake(s) and punch press to form stainless steel sheet/plate to print.

Select and install tooling/dies; load programs; adjust offsets to achieve required tolerances.

Read and interpret engineering drawings/blueprints (basic GD&T).

Perform first article and in process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and protractors; document results.

Deburr, grain, and finish parts to hygienic standards; coordinate with laser/waterjet, welding, and assembly as needed.

Safely handle material; use pallet jacks/forklifts or overhead hoists if certified.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area (5S/continuous improvement mindset).

What You’ll Bring

2+ years as a press brake or punch press operator in a sheet metal/fabrication environment (stainless preferred).

Strong print reading and precision measurement skills; able to hold tight tolerances as specified.

Familiarity with basic CNC control operations (program edits, bend sequence, tool selection).

Safety first attitude, reliable attendance, and teamwork.

Nice to have: TIG/MIG basics, laser/waterjet exposure, ERP/job traveler experience, forklift or overhead crane certification.

Schedule, Pay & Benefits

Schedule: Full time, onsite; day shift with overtime as needed (second shift opportunities may be available).

Pay: $24.00–$30.00 per hour DOE + overtime
