Job Summary:
The Operations & Performance Engineer is responsible to ensure high reliability and performance of the newly built power plant up to the first major inspection. During this period solutions are implemented within technical limitations and per plant operating procedures, working closely with the Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager and Shift Supervisors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Implement operational strategy consistent with achieving maximum plant efficiency to meet contractual requirements in the most safe, reliable, economical and environmentally manner.
Develop, record and retain applicable plant operations and maintenance data
Carry out root cause analysis and troubleshoot malfunctions and operating defects.
Support development and implementation of operating procedures for major systems using Facility designer’s operation manuals/procedures and equipment Vendors' instructions.
Initiate facility modifications and upgrades to enhance plant reliability and performance.
Work in cooperation with GE O&M Centre of Excellence (CoE) team, GE Engineering and other O&M support functions.
Support optimization of plant operating strategies with the aim of achieving lower cost operation and/or increased efficiency and output.
Implement plant operating logs covering critical plant operating parameters and conduct necessary review and analysis to proactively identify potential problems.
Support customer to coordinate with Power Purchaser and Fuel Supplier for load management and fuel supply requirements respectively.
Understand H&S risks / hazards and environmental / legislative aspects / impacts related to work activities.
Provide coverage for shift rotation if needed
Coordinate with GE O&M Centre of Excellence (CoE) team, GE Engineering and other O&M support team for the resolution of complex issues relevant to the Power Station.
Coordinate with other GE Power services elements (Turbine Service, Engineering teams, sales, O&M) to ensure optimum results during daily operation / outages for the Power Station
Travel may be required
Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments

Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Controls Engineering from an accredited College or University
Minimum 5 years of thermal power plant O&M experience with minimum three years in team lead position in plant operations
Proficiency with computer tools
English proficiency required, both written and verbal
Desired Characteristics:
• Strong project management, problem solving and organizational skills

• Knowledge of GE products, services, and processes
• Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training
• Prior customer interface experience
• Proficiency with computer tools
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally;
• Ability to work nights and weekends in case of emergencies
