Position: Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA)

Department: DermatologyJob Summary

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is a licensed practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing/PA standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status).Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Professional Responsibilities:

Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients.

Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.

Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities

Analyzes patient data to determine health status, verifies diagnosis based on findings.

Designs a plan of care to attain/promote, maintain and/or restore patient health

Facilitates the patient’s transition to appropriate medical doctor for surgical intervention.

Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.

Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.

Maintains a positive culture within the health care system.

Reports to work on time and willing to stay late if necessary to provide patient care.

Maintains the Electronic Medical Record System timely and efficiently.

Performs procedures when necessary

QualificationsEducation and Experience

Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing/Physician Assistant

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program

Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure (if Applicable)

Current CNOR/CRNFA (if applicable) certification

Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life

Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility

Strong computer skillsPreferred Qualifications

CPR Certification

Previous EMR experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant role

Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
