The Opportunity
Boeing Australia is going through an exciting stage of growth and expansion driven by several innovative business initiatives including the Boeing MQ-28 “Ghost Bat”. MQ-28 is an autonomous aircraft that has been designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia. It is a globally-significant program for Boeing and Australia demonstrated by the investment Boeing is making in building a new fabrication and assembly production facility in Toowoomba, Queensland to enable the high rate production of MQ-28 aircraft.
From the beginning, the design, development and production of MQ-28 has had a digital first approach. It has been designed and built on a foundation of Model Based Engineering (MBE) principles with the target of business and production automation through establishing Operational Digital Threads and the Digital Transformation of Boeing’s Operational Processes and Systems.
To continue to enable the next wave of Digital Transformation and drive technology innovation, Boeing IT is seeking an experienced and outcome-focused IT professional to join the Information Digital Technology & Security (IDT&S) team to support the MQ-28 Program across several Digital and Production Based value streams associated with aircraft design, engineering and production and to by addressing the complex delivery and technology challenges associated with this.
As the Digital Solutions and Production Systems Manager, you will lead a talented team from a diverse range of backgrounds and skill sets located across Toowoomba, Brisbane and Melbourne.
Successful applicants will be comfortable working in, and meeting key outcomes and milestones, in a fast-paced, dynamic technology, engineering and manufacturing environment.
Location: Toowoomba, Brisbane, or Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements.
Due to the International nature of the role and business as a whole, there may be the requirement to support after hours meetings, however flexibility is encouraged. Some domestic travel will be required.
About the Role:
As a key member of the IDT&S Global Systems Team, you will work collaboratively with key stakeholders within the MQ-28 Program and be accountable for ensuring the delivery of the IT Production Systems portfolio and the ongoing support of MQ-28 Digital Solutions to schedule and within budget by leading a team to:
Architect, Develop, implement, configure and maintain software solutions specific to the Production Systems and Factory facilities across the:
Information Technology / Operational Technology interface
Bedrock systems of MQ-28 Engineering, Manufacturing and Sustainment operations
Drive integrated solutions to automate business operations and establish Operational Digital Threads across bedrock solutions.
Maintain compliance of MQ-28 IT systems to ITSM Practices and Boeing Policies
Supporting the implemented Digital Solutions in delivering effective and efficient IT Service Management to MQ-28.
Establish and embed best practices in IT Service Management (ITSM) consistent with Boeing Enterprise frameworks and tools
Assist in the creation of project estimates, plans, schedules, and corrective actions.
Support MQ-28 business goals by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in IT solutions.
Other responsibilities include:
Build relationships and provide guidance within cross-functional teams.
Mentoring the MQ-28 IT Team to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Work with peers to develop opportunities to integrate operations and services for greater efficiency and coverage across the broader IT group
Provide oversight and coaching on approved technical approaches, products and processes;
Talent Management and hiring of resources within the team to meet project demands.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
5+ years of experience performing, leading, or managing IT professionals in digital and application support.
10+ years of relevant work experience in Production Systems solutions that integrate between Information Technology and Operational Technology software.
In-depth knowledge of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Integration architectures and solutions.
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and standards and familiarity with factory automation software and hardware platforms.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical concepts clearly.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively across a management team.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a computer-related field
Experience with DevOps and cloud-native technologies, such as containerization, CI/CD, and microservices.
Knowledge and experience in use of ITIL Processes (with certification) and experience with SDLC Methodologies
