Job Summary

Plans, develops, and implements training programs for bus drivers to ensure safe driving practices which adhere to Federal, State and District transportation policies, rules, and regulations. This is a working position where driving a bus is required when staffing shortages occur.

What you will do

Deliver comprehensive instruction to ensure new drivers and bus monitors are fully qualified to perform their duties. Provide behind-the-wheel training in accordance with MNPS, State, and Federal standards to prepare candidates for the CDL skills test and the responsibilities of an MNPS bus driver.

Organizes, and maintains comprehensive records for bus drivers in training, including tracking license and medical expiration dates.

Knowledge of bus driver training fundamentals. Ability to evaluate driver's skills for operating a school bus.

Plans and organizes safety programs in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist with departmental staff development training.

Assist with retraining and maintaining records of school bus drivers referred to by the Transportation Safety Supervisor for additional instruction.

Teaches First Aid, CPR, AED training to all new and existing drivers, bus monitors, and existing staff that hold a CDL.

Drives a bus over a designated route in accordance with a specified time schedule or on District routes as dictated by daily absenteeism or driver shortage.

Assists in developing and implementing the Annual Driver Proficiency - Keep training buses clean, fueled, and maintained.

Provide guidance and coordinate task scheduling for midday trainers.Education Qualifications

High School Diploma Or Equivalent Required Experience Qualifications

1-3 years Experience in pupil transportation activities, with demonstrated knowledge of state and federal pupil transportation rules and regulations Required Skills and Abilities

Effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact effectively with a diverse workforce.

Basic to intermediate knowledge of Office 365 suite and other software or application platforms, video equipment or other means that may be used in training adults.

Understanding of adult learning methods and ability to create measurably effective technical training programs. Licenses and Certifications

Must possess a valid State of TN Type B Commercial Driver’s License with evidence of good driving history, with passenger and school bus endorsement and a current CPR certification Required Equivalency

Starting At: $24.73

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
