The Calibration Advisor is the resident expert in his field that will provide engineering/consultant services to the Royal Omani Air Force (RAFO). This position will provide services of operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating equipment. Assists in the development and implementation of a QA Program as required.
Responsibilities:
Calibration of inspection, measurement and test equipment (IM&TE) for the following disciplines – Electronics (including DC & Low Frequency, RF & Microwave, RF Power, Phase Noise, IFF/TACAN, Phase, Time & Waveform), physical-mechanical and Biomedical – to ensure compliance with published specifications in these fields
Maintain primary and/or intrinsic standards
Maintain secondary and/or working standards
Develop calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements
Inspect and evaluate new calibration standards for proper operation before releasing them to the calibration laboratory
Recommend IM, TE and standards for use in measurement and calibration applications
Adapt existing calibration equipment, standards and techniques to accomplish unique measurement tasks for which they may not be principally used
Apply engineering knowledge to design and development of calibration methods, fixtures, and IM&TE not commercially available
Perform uncertainty evaluation and analysis for measurement standards and associated measurement processes
Design and document measurement reference material for laboratory use
Provide technical advice to other sections with the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO)
Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs
Any other tasks as directed by Program Management and SO2 ENG Cal
Minimum Requirements
Required minimum training must be equivalent to USAF level PMEL technical schools or civilian trade school plus similar OJT/apprentice type upgrade training
Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating electronic precision measurement equipment and calibration laboratory reference standards.
Preferred Requirements:
Requires an associate’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology, physics or related technical field from an accredited college or university
