Job Description Summary

The Department of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina is actively seeking a Pediatric Surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Applicants should be board certified or board eligible, and in their first 10 years of practice. Applicants must be competent in minimally invasive surgical techniques in children, pediatric general surgery, pediatric trauma evaluation, resuscitation and management, pediatric central venous access and pediatric ECMO cannulation. In addition to clinical care, the Faculty position includes education of medical students and residents and clinical or outcomes research. Primary clinical responsibilities will include the full spectrum of pediatric surgical cases, inpatient rounding and consultations and call coverage including urgent and emergent surgical cases as well as local outpatient and satellite clinic coverage.

Qualifications

Board certification or eligibility in pediatric surgery; in the first 10 years of practice.

Competence in minimally invasive pediatric surgical techniques, pediatric general surgery, trauma evaluation, resuscitation and management, central venous access and ECMO cannulation.

Ability to educate medical students and residents; participate in clinical or outcomes research.

Primary clinical responsibilities: full spectrum of pediatric surgical cases, inpatient rounding and consultations, call coverage including urgent/emergent surgeries and local outpatient/satellite clinic coverage.
