Position Overview:
The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining all instrumentation equipment with demonstrated proficiency with electrical test equipment including voltmeter, ammeter, HART handheld, etc. Instrumentation must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of instrumentation including pH probes, level transmitters, pressure transmitters, flow meters, and related equipment. They will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform examinations of work areas and monitor compliance with MSHA regulations and company policies.
Install and wire instrumentation such as pH probes, level transmitters, flow meters, and other instruments.
Diagnose, isolate, and repair low voltage electrical, electronic, and instrumentation malfunctions to include the replacement and adjustment of components, integral units, motors, controls, standard devices.
Troubleshoot repair and maintain low voltage (0 VAC/VDC 51 VAC/VDC).
Troubleshoot, repair, and PM/calibration of a wide range of instrumentation (temp, flow, proximity, pressure, valves, gas sensors, pH, etc.).
Basic Qualifications:
Associate degree or other certification as an Instrumentation Technician or equivalent.
3+ years of experience in a chemical plant, heavy industrial or mine.
Experience with DCS and PLC control systems.
Experience with reliability-based maintenance.
Desired Qualities:
Ability to troubleshoot PLC programs, simulate signals, calibrate instruments.
Ability to work in teams with strong collaboration skills.
Good verbal and written skills.
Attention to detail and ability to learn new duties.
Ability to complete a task with minimal supervision.
A Valid Drivers License required to drive company vehicles on property.

Working Conditions: Our facility sits at an elevation of 4,700 feet. Employees may be subject to extreme weather conditions when working in an outdoor setting (heat and cold, wind). Work is at an open pit mine or manufacturing/chemical plant setting, which may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.

While performing the job responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear.
