LOCATION: Permanent – Hull; 12 month – Hull/Lincoln
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27600-£35900 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
BBC East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire is looking for two talented journalists to join our dynamic team in either Hull or Lincoln. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a newsroom that’s passionate about uncovering and telling compelling stories from across the region. We’re seeking creative, driven individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and aren’t afraid to speak up. You’ll be a self-starter with a nose for news and the ability to bring stories to life across all BBC platforms. A strong understanding of BBC Values and Editorial Guidelines is essential, as is a collaborative spirit and a willingness to contribute to planning when needed. While local knowledge of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire is a plus, what matters most is your enthusiasm and your ideas.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Researching and generating ideas using contacts, social media and your nose for a story.
Filming, writing and recording content for online, radio and TV as required
Producing accurate, balanced and engaging multi-platform news content, adhering to BBC editorial guidelines.
Work closely with producers, editors and journalists to shape coverage, pitch ideas and contribute to editorial planning.
Ensure all content meets legal, ethical and editorial standards, including accuracy, impartiality and fairness.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Strong editorial judgement and a clear understanding of BBC Values
Experience producing content across radio, TV, online and socials, with an ability to adapt storytelling for each.
Ability to work collaboratively within a fast past newsroom, contributing ideas and supporting colleagues
Skilled in multi-media production, including basic video or audio editing, and online writing
Commitment to accuracy, impartiality and editorial compliance, in line with BBC guidelines
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
A knowledge of the BBC online systems, including Optimo
Knowledge of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire’s communities, issues and audiences
Interest in developing skills, and a desire to push to improve
Ideas, contacts and a nose for a story!
