Position Overview
To deliver high-quality teaching in Business and Economics within the NCUK International Foundation Year programme, ensuring students are well-prepared for university progression in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, North America, and beyond. The role requires a strong focus on academic rigor, skill development, and supporting students’ transition to an international higher education culture.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in Business and Economics following the NCUK IFY syllabus.
Design lesson plans and learning materials that meet NCUK assessment objectives and standards.
Provide students with formative and summative feedback to monitor progress and ensure readiness for NCUK examinations.
Integrate academic skills (e.g., critical thinking, academic writing, research methods) into subject teaching.
Support students in developing independent learning skills, confidence, and problem-solving abilities.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
Prepare, administer, and mark assessments in line with NCUK regulations and guidelines.
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, coursework, and examination grades.
Contribute to the preparation of progress reports and participate in parent/guardian meetings where required.
Student Support & Guidance
Offer academic guidance and consultation hours to support students in overcoming learning challenges.
Assist students in understanding university progression opportunities through Business, Management, Economics, and related pathways.
Collaborate with pastoral and academic teams to address student wellbeing and academic concerns. Professional Contribution
Participate in induction, moderation, and standardisation sessions required by NCUK.
Engage in professional development activities to stay current with subject knowledge, pedagogy, and assessment practices.
Contribute to the academic community at Sedbergh Vietnam, including cross-curricular projects and enrichment activities.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Management, or a closely related field.
Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
At least 3 years’ experience teaching Business and/or Economics at A-level, IB, or equivalent pre-university programme.
Experience preparing students for external examinations and progression to international universities.
Strong communication and intercultural skills, with ability to teach non-native English-speaking students. Desirable:
Master’s or higher degree in Business, Economics, or related discipline.
Previous experience teaching on NCUK, Foundation Year, or international pathway programmes.
Familiarity with blended/online learning platforms and digital teaching tools.
Experience living or teaching in an international context.

Type: Part-time contract (hours to be agreed, aligned with IFY timetable).
