About the Program

Integrated Warfare Systems & Sensors (IWSS) is one of the cornerstones of Lockheed Martin Australia with over 250 staff and programs stretching back over two decades. This broad portfolio covers surface maritime combat systems, sustainment of deployable radars, production of high-power amplifiers and support to a range of high frequency radar programs. Operating out of Adelaide, Newcastle, Melbourne and Sydney the portfolio includes a broad supplier base spread around the country and ranging from large multi-nationals through to small regional operates and key small to medium enterprises. With major new programs on the horizon in all key areas of the portfolio this is a well-established business with exciting long term growth opportunities.

We are seeking an experienced Subcontract Program Manager to lead and manage subcontractor capability from program inception through to completion. In this role, you will oversee subcontracts of medium to high complexity, ensuring delivery against all cost, quality, schedule, financial, and technical requirements. You’ll provide strong leadership, drive subcontractor performance, and play a key role in achieving critical program milestones.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

Lead subcontract program management activities across proposals and delivery, including artefacts, business plans, and make-or-buy recommendations.

Manage subcontractor performance across cost, quality, schedule, financial, and technical requirements, ensuring milestones and SLAs are met.

Monitor, report, and resolve subcontract issues and risks, including maintaining the project risk register and providing guidance on mitigation strategies.

Oversee subcontractor selection, contract changes, and lifecycle activities such as close-out, extension, or renewal.

Act as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, maintaining strong relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders.

Provide expert guidance on subcontractor management to project teams and contribute to the development of company policies and procedures.

About you:

Extensive experience in commercial and contract management, with strong ability to interpret and manage complex contracts and subcontracts.

Proven success in negotiation, issue resolution, and achieving commercially focused outcomes.

Background or sound knowledge of Defence capability development and acquisition practices (desirable)

Skilled in delivering to requirements, budgets, and schedules in complex or medium-risk environments.

Working knowledge of key standards including risk management (AS4360), quality systems (ISO9001), and earned value management (AS4817).

Strong experience in bids, proposals, and business development, including drafting RFIs, RFQs, and tenders.

Excellent understanding of how programs interface with engineering, finance, commercial, support, and quality functions.
