Overview
Cambridge has recruited talented interns from across the country to join us during the summer for a 11 week paid internship. We'll have over 25 interns join us at our home offices in Fairfield, Iowa and Phoenix, Arizona. The Next Step internship program gives students practical insight into the financial services industry and allows students to gain practical knowledge in their field. Students are partnered with a professional mentor, supervisor, and executive leader to gain networking opportunities and learn from industry professionals. At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will have the opportunity to present on their experience and a specific project of their choice.
Essential Duties
Cambridge offers internship opportunities within our Advocacy & Supervision and Compliance departments. Both teams play a vital role in supporting our financial professionals, protecting the firm, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
We have three Compliance Internship opening located in the Fairfield, IA office.
Advocacy & Supervision (A&S): Acts as relationship managers for Cambridge financial professionals, assisting with supervision of daily operations and providing solutions to escalated concerns. This team focuses on research, relationship building, and analyzing data trends to support financial professionals and strengthen firm processes.
Compliance: Supports regulatory compliance across the firm while providing excellent service to financial professionals and associates. Interns gain exposure to how a broker-dealer operates, how compliance policies are reviewed and enforced, and how regulatory requirements shape the industry. As an A&S or Compliance intern, you will:
Work closely with department leaders and teams on day-to-day activities and projects
Collect and analyze data, run reports, and identify opportunities for process improvements
Shadow team members and attend meetings with leadership, financial professionals, and regulators
Assist with compliance audits, policy reviews, trading surveillance, and outside business activity reviews
Explore licensing requirements, compliance regulations, and career paths in the financial services industry
Contribute to special projects, such as research on regulatory updates, investment product due diligence, or process efficiency studies.
Collaborate with other departments to gain exposure to other aspects of the firm and industry Education & Experience
Students studying finance, business, business analytics, legal studies or similar majors will likely be the most successful in these roles.
$17-19 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the compensation to be offered for this position based on the ideal candidate's qualifications, the Company's operational needs, and other considerations permitted by law. The actual pay offered to a specific candidate may vary above or below the stated range.

Educational courses: Interns participate in educational training hosted by our Associate Training and Development team. Courses consist of career workshops, problem solving, professional development and financial services industry basics.
Networking events: Interns have the opportunity to network with our company executives during the Welcome and End of Summer Banquets. Interns will participate in leadership panels to hear from company leaders, ask questions and gain valuable insight as well as have the chance to job shadow in other teams at Cambridge. Following the summer internship, interns have access to the Next Step Intern Alumni LinkedIn group to stay in touch with Cambridge and other past interns.
Opportunity to discuss continued employment with Cambridge on a part-time or full-time basis following the internship.
