Summary
The Landscape Foreman is responsible for leading a crew of Landscape Technicians while actively participating in daily landscaping tasks. This role combines hands-on work with supervisory duties, ensuring that grounds across multiple properties are maintained to high standards of safety, appearance, and efficiency. The Foreman serves as the on-site leader, providing direction, training, and quality control, while working directly alongside the crew.
Essential Functions
Must be able to complete the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation and meet all the mandatory qualifications.
Work alongside crew members performing daily landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, and debris removal.
Assign tasks and organize workflow for Landscape Technicians to maximize efficiency and coverage across multiple sites.
Provide training and coaching on proper landscaping techniques, safe equipment operation, and company standards.
Monitor quality of work and ensure all properties are kept clean, safe, and visually appealing.
Inspect grounds regularly, identify issues (hazards, irrigation problems, plant health concerns), and report or resolve them.
Safely operate and oversee the use of landscaping equipment; assist with troubleshooting and minor equipment repairs.
Conduct daily safety briefings, enforce PPE use, and ensure OSHA and company safety standards are followed by all crew members.
Coordinate with management on scheduling, priorities, and supply needs.
Maintain records of crew activities, time, and materials used.
Serve as the first point of contact for crew questions, site-level decisions, and problem resolution.
Lead seasonal tasks such as storm cleanup, irrigation checks, or large plantings.
Provide guidance and on-the-job training to Landscape Technicians.
Enforce safety practices within the crew.
Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks; follow chain-of-command for issue resolution.
Perform all other duties assigned.
Qualifications
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies required for the position may be considered.
Minimum of one (1) year of professional landscaping or grounds maintenance experience.
Entry-level supervisory experience.
Valid Drivers License with acceptable driving record. Ability and willingness to obtain Class A CDL.
Must be able to obtain OSHA 10-Hour for General Industry & Construction.
Must be able to obtain FDOT Temporary Traffic Control Intermediate Certification.
Demonstrated ability to perform landscaping tasks independently and lead others by example.
Strong knowledge of advanced landscaping practices, including pruning, soil care, irrigation basics, and pest/weed control.
Must be able to lead by example, demonstrating strong work ethic, professionalism, and safety-minded behavior.
Complete leadership training courses as required
Ability to safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of landscaping equipment.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to direct and motivate a team.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field with minimal supervision.
