Minimum Qualification : Certificate Experience Level : Entry level Experience Length : 3 years Working Hours : Full Time Job Description/Requirements JOB ROLES & EXPECTATIONS: Key Result Areas Specific Tasks / Responsibilities Vehicle Management Trip Management Perform daily pre-trip inspections (oil, water, brakes, lights) Ensure the cleanliness of the vehicle Report and follow up on mechanical issues Cargo & Safety Secure cargo properly (especially cassava starch) Communication Maintain contact with the team during trips Report delays, breakdowns, or route changes immediately Responsiveness Participate in truck recovery if stuck in terrain Be available for early morning or night journeys Support Tasks Provide transport for staff to hospital, airport, or other locations when assigned Ensure safety compliance during transport Assist with offloading when manpower is insufficient.
Accurately record mileage before and after trips Maintain complete and legible trip logs Avoid risky stopping points during journeys KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal/ External Member Purpose Factory Manager Trip planning, performance review, issue reporting Maintenance Technician Mechanical checks and servicing coordination Storekeepers Coordination of goods loading/offloading HR/Admin Officer Staff transport requests, policy matters (e.g., overtime) Security Staff Entry/exit clearance and safety protocol at factory gate COMPETENCIES: Technical Competencies: Knowledge: Valid Class C or C1 driver’s license Knowledge of Ugandan road laws Basic mechanical knowledge (oil, coolant, tire pressure, etc.) Awareness of safe transport practices for food-grade goods Skills: Safe and defensive driving Accurate record keeping Communication and responsiveness Minor troubleshooting and route adjustment.
